Ray's Blog...It's OUR Time Now

What's up everyone, I am happy to join the Yardbarker world...This is my first of many blog posts, I am looking forward to sharing my thoughts with you, and responding to your questions and comments whenever I can. I think that through the blog, you can expect is just an open honest view that a lot of people won't share. A lot of people have perspectives but I truly believe that even a fool is counted wise until he opens his mouth. The beauty of what I want to tell you guys is that if you're a true fan of the Baltimore Ravens, go look at our record when we play in November and December. They're talking about all these hard teams that we've got. But the bottom line is no matter who lines up and plays football against us... if you're a Ravens fan, your bet is good. When you look at our defense, we're sitting right now I think number 8 in defense. We were kind of the same way the last 3 or 4 years and we're number 1 in rushing defense. There are so many things that we're doing as a team right now that is going to prepare us for when we get into the second-half of the season. I put a thought of the week on the board leading into our locker room every week. Things that we, as a team need to focus on. This week, the message was: The only thing close is horseshoes. Take this win and lets roll. It's OUR time right now. By that, I mean that nothing else matters. You hear all the things that people want to talk about like the game was close and that game was close. The only thing close counts is horseshoes. And that's why I put it up there. Because in this business, there's only one thing that matters and that's a win and a loss. If we're 1-3, then everybody wants to say, 'Oh, the Ravens ain't this.' We're 2-1. We're sitting second in our division, and the only thing that matters in our mind right now is Cleveland. That's it. That's a division game, not a Jamal rivalry. To all these former guys, it's a Cleveland, divisional game -- one that we need to win. So my message is very simple: it's time to get done what we need to get done as a team. That's special teams, offense, and defense. And that's why the message is what it was. Here's a very simple personal message for off the field: Always work. Always know that the greatest gift in life is love. So the greatest way to express love is to always walk in love. And walking in love sometimes means you've got to go through a lot of pains to even see yourself in the other side of love. So a lot of things now, off the field, when you're dealing with everyday issues...understand that everyday issues are supposed to be there...but at least seventy-percent of them we create ourselves. But when we're able to slow life down, we'll really appreciate chasing our purposes.

  The offense is looking better this year: Boller looks pretty sharp; McGahee looks great; McNair, knock on wood, looks good when he's healthy; the young offensive line has been playing well with J.O. out because of a bad toe...

I'm glad to see you here Ray... I'm a Niners fan but with all honesty I can say watching the Ravens play defense is one of the most amazing things in sports period. Theres no other team in the NFL that plays with that kind of intensity. So even though I may be rooting against you, the respect for what yall can do is through the roof.

I have a question though, do you believe in the Madden Curse? after the season you, michael vick, and shaun alexander had after appearing on the madden cover. Would you do it again if they offered it to you?

WOW! Ray Lewis, man. Like fbkid said, its great to have a future HOFer in the Yard. Been a fan of yours for quite some time now and have to say that your not just the best defensive player in the last 10 years, but the best leader. You guys are gonna kill the Browns. Good luck

Wow! I am so glad to have a Raven on the yard. I like the Ravens because you guys have an awesome defense; however, I love the Ravens because my homeboy McNair is there. I attend Alcorn State University with Steve and I know his capability. He is an excellent QB and you guys will get the wins with him. People seem to forget that he went to the Superbowl with the Titans and Derrick Mason. Just keep Steve healthy and the Ravens will return to the Superbowl. It would be awesome if the Ravens could play the Eagles in the superbowl. LOL

Glad to see that you have joined into the blog world!! I too am a new member since my cousin Kyle Harrison is also sharing the same website. I have been a Ravens fans for years and its is becuase of YOU!!!! I love your city and have a ball everytime I am able to visit. I will defintly continue to check in to see what you are writing!! I don't have the NF Ticket this year :( so I am sick that I am not going to be able to see you guys play every Sunday so I am really going through withdrawl!! A lot of times we don't know who we are connected with spiritually, but you putting that Psalms 23:4 lets me know we have a connection. I was too excited that you guys beat San Fran on Sunday I had alot of bets riding on you guys ( I cook so I was going to have bake many sweet potatoe pies if you guys lost but since you did I have my choice of many restuarants to choose from. :)!!! I will continue to keep you, yours and the team in my prayers not only while you are on the field but in you day to day livings which I know can be hectic being in or out of the spot light. Ray, as a huge fan of yours from right here in San Antonio Tx, I just want to say that is a dream to be able to talk to you in any form! Not only are you the greatest football player on the face of this earth, but as a man you are even better! You are an inspiration to people every where, because you are a living and breathing testimony of what god can do to a person if you give your life to him!

I appreciate the fact that you know where I am coming from and that sometimes you get knocked down, but with faith, you can conquer all. It excites me to know that I am connected with you because of the man I am, and the person you are. As an avid Browns fan, I was obviously happy to see you guys lose yesterday. Even though The Ravens are a hijacked Browns team (not your fault) I have to give respect where it is due. You are, undoubtedly, the best LB in the NFL today. All of the naysayers wondering if you were still going to be able to crunch it out at your "accelerated age" have been shut up by your relentless performance yet again. Keep up the good work, and if you ever want to team up with Jamal again, Cleveland would love to have you.

Obviously you people dont understand his dancing. Most of you are probably from other states, because you have no idea how fired up the fans get when he gets pumped up.
The season isnt even 1/4th of the way over. We are tied for second in the division. Calm down fans, its not the end of the world. As for all the people saying the Ravens are old, last time I checked... Is Laundry old? Ngata? Suggs? We still have Ed Reed, Bart Scott, Kelly Gregg, our two wonderful CBs. As soon as Trevor comes back, we will get back on track. So when week 12 and 13 roll around, and we are in first place in our division, all of you fans that abandon the Ravens, dont even bother coming back. Go root for the Patriots, Colts or Packers. Just sell out on your team.

I somewhat agree with Lewis52mlb above, it is disheartening sometimes to hear the constant whining and complaining because our team has a loss or two. We win some and we lose some. Rays energy both empowers the team and the fans. It is something that I feel is needed. I cannot fathom the way it will be when Ray retires. Don't retire Ray! (lol) Lighten up people. . . we still have one of the most dominating defenses in the league, an amazing coaching staff, we just have a few things to fix. As Lewis52mlb said. . . . the season has JUST BEGUN! Stand behind your team through thick and thin.

Thank you varavensgirl! I am glad someone can see this. On tv they were saying the Ravens are soft and such, but like Ray said in his interview the other night, wait until November then come back and see what happens. We all can't finish 16-0. I think this team is professional enough to fix what is going on. I don't believe what the media says about problems with them and Brian Billick. The team gets in bad positions. Some fumbled kickoffs, and a few big plays given up. It is possible to fix. Remember the Colts and how horrible they were at defending the run? From week 17 to their playoff game, they went from horrible to amazing.

And please, people.... stop bashing Steve McNair. He is abit off right now, and he STILL is completing 65% of his passes. Only sacked 4 times this season, and he is averaging 236 yards per game. His third down percentage is great. The offense just troubles in the redzone. So before you bash on all the starters, give them time to turn this around, and stop pointing the finger at coaches and age.

Keep it up Ray, Baltimore still loves the Ravens.

  I couldn't have said it betterâ€¦There are ALWAYS set-backs in life, it is how you respond to themâ€¦If I remember correctly, there has only been 1 team to go 16-0â€¦This game is a marathon, it is who is standing in the end, and I feel that we have a chance to be one of those teams standing when the dust settles.

Hey I think your right about what your saying about the run game. You guys used to be known for your run game and not running on 1st 2cd and 3rd AND forth is pretty bad. And with Willis McGahee I dont see what the problem is.
